When we first stepped into the Penang Sport Club, we received a very warm welcome from the host, Oracle Advanced Toastmasters. We were give an introduction to the Penang Sports Club and its facilities by Toastmaster Ricky Ch’ng, ACS, CL. The tour around the prestigious club was one of the highlights as non-members are usually not allowed to enter the club.
Another highlight during the meeting was the way the Penang toastmasters conducted their meeting. It was an eye opener for both clubs as we carry out the meeting in different ways. For example, the time keeper, language evaluator and Ah counter will deliver their reports at the end of each session and not the end of the meeting, which is how is usually done at D’Utama. This has the advantage of ensuring that the speaking experience is still fresh in the speaker’s mind, and he/she will be able to look into the areas identified for improvement.
The “teh tarik” session was definitely not to be missed. We enjoyed drinks at the bar of the Penang Sports Club while waiting for dinner time where we indulged ourselves at one of the food courts in Pulau Tikus.
D'Utama and Oracle Advanced Toastmasters pose for a group photo and took the opportunity to celebrate Rosalind Chan's birthday.
