DUTM Club Meeting on 20th September 2012

Dear members,

Our next meeting on 20 September 2012 will be no ordinary one! It will be a JOINT MEETING with Sunway Toastmasters Club! Did you know that our club is the club sponsor for Sunway Toastmasters Club? So indeed we have a long history with this wonderful club which meets on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Thursdays of the month! Read more about them on their blog!

All speaking slots have been taken up but don't worry! There are plenty of roles available for you to hone your speaking skills and get credited for them in your Competent Leadership (CL) manual! Please remember to bring your CL manual with you to the meeting and appoint a member to be your evaluator for the relevant projects!

Events and Announcements (Sept 2012)

Dear Fellow D'Utama Toastmasters Members,

I hope this email finds you well and you had a fantastic long weekend along with Merdeka Day. We are moving to the third month of the term and wish to share with you the exciting events that will be taking place;

Events / Activities:

1. Regular Club meeting - 6th Sept 12 (Thursday)
   Under the stewardship of our Past President, Nancy Liew ACS ALS. Come and support your fellow members and friends who will be delivering their speeches and conquering their fears. More information here: http://www.dutm.org/2012/09/6-sept-2012-find-your-voice-serve-world.html.
    
2. Humorous Speech and Evaluation Contest (Area Level) - 8th Sept 12 (Saturday)
   The club's champions Alex Tan and Johnson Yike will be competing at the next level at Taylor's Lakeside Campus (map) from 1:30PM to 5:30PM. The club is sponsoring 10 tickets to support our champions. Thus members who can confirm their attendance, please come see me this Thursday (6 Sept) for your FREE ticket (First-come-first-serve). Otherwise you can purchase the ticket for RM10 during the contest day.
    
3. Joint Meeting with Sunway Toastmasters Club - 20th Sept 12 (Thursday).
   D'Utama will be hosting the first joint meeting with our sister club on this date. This will be a great time for camaraderie, fellowship and networking. Contact our VPE Hoo Sze Ling to take up a role now.
    
4. Retreat to Saujana Janda Baik (Nov 3 (Sat) - 4 (Sun) 2012)
   The first fellowship trip of the term is here. Our VPM Chu Shi Wei, CC has announced that dates and place, and the activities includes 'Jungle Trekking', 'River Tubing', Food and Games' and many more. It is open to family and friends. Kindly contact our VPE Chu Shi Wei for registration and deposit (RM50) to secure your place.

Announcements:

1. Semi-Annual Dues (Oct 12 - Mar 13).
   Our Treasurer Jack Ng has announced via email and during the club that the Semi-Annual Dues collection has started. Kindly make your payments in a timely manner via the methods he shared to avoid any disruption to your learning and experience. Take advantage of the prepaid door fee to save 23% and accelerate your learning experience.

Dearest D'Utama Toastmasters Club,

Good morning and Selamat Merdeka!!!

Did you catch BLUE Moon on this historical day? Yes! It's fall on 55th year of our national day ~ 31st August 2012!

If you miss it, according to reliable source, it comes in year 2018. :)

I am making a point here, when opportunity knocks, grab it!!

I am pleased to announce that our speaking opportunities in upcoming meeting have completely taken !

We will have 4 dynamic assignment speakers to exercise their verbal-gymnastic and body language, let's guess what's their revelation behind... :)

The theme of this meeting is "Find Your Voice, Serve The World".  Why this theme ?  Want to know?  Please find out and join me to explore the fun and fulfilling experience in public speaking and be who you wish to be as a person.

Guys, please come in your BEST TIE and long sleeve shirt.  For ladies, smartly dressed and preferably come in BEST SCARF. Winners will be surprised with mystery prizes.
