Fun night at Crazy Hat Party + Installation Night on 30th June 2012
A congratulations message from one of our club members, Lim Bing Yee,
"An ocean of fun for the slick installation 2011;
A sea of smiles for creative 'mad'-hatted toastmasters;
A river of ingenuity for tellers of tall tales;
A stream of strength for dedicated roasty-toasty TM's 'young and mature';
A huge drop of immeasurable faith for our newly elected committee 2012"
"Good luck to DTM Johnson Yike and his new team and an amazing job done to Immediate Past President Steven Lai and his team."

I hope you have had a fantastic 2nd meeting of the term under the theme "SHIFTING GEARS"
Thank you to all the role players:
- Chee, Kenny and Yew Choong for an excellent first time job as ASA, Timekeeper & Grammarian respectively.
- Bing for the Teh Tarik Magic
- Siva for the entertaining Table Topics - I had a differing opinion. I felt you delivered the titles crisp & clear.
- Sze Ling for your sense of humour.
- VK, also for your sense of humour.
- Ginger, for graciously accepting the role of the mysterious Ahhhhhhh Counter. You even impressed your colleague.
- P/S: Congratulations on being the BEST TABLE TOPICS speaker.
- Evaluators Kooi Ching, Shi Wei, The President & Siva (for double role).
- P/S: Shi Wei: Happy Birthday! And I voted for you as Best Evaluator.
- And Ivy for your critical assessment. We will need to rethink the use of the lectern - won't we... hmmm.
To the assignment speakers:
- Jo Chung for the WINNING Ice Breaker. You are ready to shift into the next gear!
- Andrew - I agree with Ivy. What made your speech absorbing was that you were passionate.
- You selected a topic which you were comfortable with. That's always a great strategy so that you can concentrate more on skills of communicating the message rather than content of message. More so, I felt you were calm, collected and cool. You can do even better next speech.
- Levin - Man, I like your pacing. Cool, calm, clear. And great eye contact. Teach me teach me.
- Gan - Congratulations on finishing the final part of your HPL.
Good night for now. See you in the next meeting.
Regards
Jason Chew

First Address from the President (Term 2012/13)
Dear Fellow Members,
The new term (2012/13) has commenced with our first meeting of the term yesterday, 5 July 2012. It was indeed an honour and privilege for me to stand before the club in my new capacity as Club President. In my opening address I shared the theme for the term;
This theme is not unique and some may have heard of the phrase before, however I strongly believe that this is most appropriate for this term. Some may ask, "Why this theme?"
A catalyst in scientific themes is 'a substance that enables a chemical reaction to proceed at a usually faster rate or under different conditions that otherwise possible'. It can also be defined as, 'an agent that provokes or speeds significant change or action'.
I love and strongly believe in the Toastmasters program, and D’Utama Toastmasters Club for it has helped transformed a once timid, shy, and scared person to be the person that can stand before an audience of tens to hundreds (haven’t reached thousands yet *smile*). The transformation still continues … so as I thought of what would be an appropriate theme for the term, I looked back on what had motivated and triggered those changes in me. It dawn on me that there were individuals within and out of the club that has moved me, inspired me, and worked with me to change from good to great, and those individuals were the catalyst in my Toastmaster’s journey.
To this effect,
Another phase we hear very often in the Toastmasters movement is "Friends helping friends succeed". That is the absolute truth. When all of us are willing to receive and give help, and of ourselves; that is when we can receive all there is to offer.
Hence ladies and gentlemen, let us all be the catalyst to one another, and work together, so that WE ALL can grow, and have a full and memorable experience in our Toastmasters journey in D'Utama Toastmasters Club.
Thank you.
Yours truly,
Johnson Yike, DTM
