Message from your President 2013/2014 : "Scaling Heights & Beyond"

[extracted from electronic mail sent on 1 July 2013]

Dear Members of D'Utama Toastmasters Club,

Greetings! Today is the 1st day of the term 2013/2014, marking the beginning of working towards new goals and aspirations.

I am pleased to introduce the new theme for the upcoming term. The theme is “Scaling Heights & Beyond”. When one is said to have scaled the heights of a type of work, it means that one has become very successful in it.

I would like to invite you to scale the heights in whatever venture that you set out to do … and then go further. It may be within Toastmasters or outside of Toastmasters. It can be anything that you wish to focus on.

In our quest for self-actualization and fulfillment of our greatest potential, it is necessary to continually challenge ourselves to set goals, achieve them and then do it all over again.

Within Toastmasters, there lies a breadth of opportunities to develop yourself in countless ways. The question is whether you wish to make full use of these opportunities! Use them!

And the best part is that you don’t have to do it alone!

The Exco is here to serve you for the next 12 months and our focus will be on members’ progress, membership recruitment and retention, and strengthening of our club finances. We will help you work towards your goals in developing your leadership and communication skills! Our club indeed is the best environment for you to grow personally and professionally!

Before I part, I leave you with this quote:

“May your dreams be larger than mountains and may you have the courage to scale their summits.”
 Harley King

Yours faithfully,
Hoo Sze Ling
President 2013/2014
D'Utama Toastmasters Club (#5912)
Scaling Heights & Beyond

We meet on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Thursday of every month at Room 1.08, KDU University College, Jalan SS22/41, Damansara Jaya, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor Darul Ehsan.
